Yesterday,I visited CNN headquarters in Atlanta, Ga and it was amazing. The building was like a combination between a mall, gift shop and news room. I saw first hand where they tape the Morning Express and also CNN news. I almost cried for being so close. I hope someday I will become a successful news writer and work in that building.

The tour guide informed me that CNN writers are responsible for a small amount of stories during the week. Some anchors write their own stories. I would like to be one of the writers. Yet, I do not know how to get into the business. I would love to write for broadcast. Some part of me does not like newspapers.

In my oppinion, Miss California is brave

Miss California, Carrie Prejean, was asked one question that change her chances of winning Miss America. “Do you think gay marriage should be legal in other states?” by Perez Hilton. She seem to be a little hesitant in her answer , but replied that “in my opinion marriage is between a man and a woman”.

The most important part that statement was in my opinion. Yet, celebrity blogger Perez Hilton felt that people can not have that opinion. An honest question gets an honest response. Since when did America become so politically correct that we can no express opinions. Just because others do not agree with you does not they are your enemy.

Miss California was proud of how she answered the question and would not take it back.

Tenacious Train Travel

Faster than the speed of flight, high speed rails are very promising and could travel at more than 100 miles an hour. That is why President Obama promised an 8 billion dollar federal investment in high speed rail and 5 billion over the next five years.

Yet, Amtrak estimates that it would cost about 393.5 billion to update the tracks in America. With such a price tag, I can’t believe the government has not gotten sticker shocked.

America’s railroad system is way behind the times. Many countries such as : German, Italy, Taiwan and France have already become advanced railroad nations. It is time for the U.S. to catch up if the conductor will let us.

Massage that ends in murder

Craigslist, the internet’s version of classified ads, is known for its wild overly provocative ads. Yet, it is now known as an add that provoked a murder, or at least arranged one.

When Julissa Brissman placed an ad for a massage , I doubt she was expecting a brutal murder. The 26 year old model from New York was killed on April 14th at the Boston Marriott hotel. What seemed to be a simple business arrangement between her and supposedly Phillip Markoff ended in her death.

Phillip Markoff is now the prime suspect of this Craigslist killing, but is believed to be innocent. ” He would not hurt a fly” says Megan Mcallister, Markoff’s fiancee. Markoff has no criminal record and is a second year student of Boston University School of Medicine.

However, it was the evidence that led to Markoff’s demise. Evidence such as surveillance videos from the hotel and emails sent from Markoff’s ISP address. Not to mention the firearm, restraints and duct tape that the police found in home.

Many believe that money was the primary motive in Julissa Brissman’s murder.Markoff pled not guilty to all charges.

Another Earth?

Scientist have discovered another earth, or close to it. Gliese 58 e is a habitable planet that is found 20 1/2 light years away from the earth. The ‘water-world’ is suspected to have a large deep ocean and rest in a habitable zone. Gliese is 1.9 times the size of the earth and is in the perfect position to harbor life.

The planet was discovered by using a European Southern Observatory‘s telescope that works by showing wobbles in different wavelengths reveling the existence of other worlds.

However, Gliese is extremely hot because it is next to a star.

For now it is considered to be a “good example that we are progressing in the detection of Earth-like planets”, according to Micheal Mayor (astrophysicist at Geneva University of Switzerland).

Octo Mom

I am so sick of hearing about the octopulet mom. She has been crowding the entertainment news since she has given birth and whats worst I think she is getting paid for it. Nadia “Octo Mom” continues to show up on different shows like Dr. Phil and Showbiz Tonight. She made an irresponsible decission and she should not be awarded for that.

However,I believe that it is necessary to help the children out because they did not decide to be here.

AIG and me

Don’t get me wrong we need American businesses to prosper in order for the average citzen to be employed and insured, but what we don’t need is deceit. I have been against the bailout since president Bush issued the first one. My perspective why grant money to irresponsible people? Issuing the same companies that have failed the U.S government money to suddenly get themselves out of it is not an intelligent economic strategy. AIG and other big companies have proven their incompetence to America and now it is our time to place power in the hands of those capable of doing the job.

I wonder why these corporate gangsters continue to be in power. They run wall street, main street and even my street; yet, their illegal activity has not been put under fire. Issuing government money to corporate officers as bonuses is not consider a bail out. America is a country that takes pride in helping the rich and discriminating against the poor. We would rather give bail-outs then hand outs. “Poverty is weakness”, but those who are rich financially, lack the capacity and willingness to experience a day without. Bail us out. Bail Americans out!!! And sentence the rich to a day in the life of the poor.

The foreclosure crisis?

Homes are being taken away. But, Who is to blame? Although many of the homeowners affected by the foreclosure crisis claim that they were fooled into to signing a lease, some knew all along that they could not afford it. Now, I am not saying to those homeowners “its all your fault”, I am just saying that there shoud be some personal responsibility. We have gotten so accustomed to the government stepping in and becoming our hero that we refuse to save ourselves. A bailout for homeowners just enables them to rely more on the government.

President Obama the people’s choice

I was watching CNN yesterday and ran across a town hall meeting held by President Obama. First, I thought how considerate of him to take the time out of his schedule to talk to actual citzens. Obama promised to run the country with an open ear and so far he has not let us down. With two town hall meetings, a news conference and a website devoted to citzen’s questions, President Obama has done a lot to keep the people informed.

The president is not in hiding! For the first time in a long time, I know what my president is doing and that he cares for the American people. Under president Obama we form a team (“Team America”), that is not focused on helping out the wealthy, but is focused on helping the average citizen.

I sincerely hope that the stimulus package is passed and that nothing extremely important is cut out of it. Yet, I am surprised at how many Republicans are rallying against it. Obviously, these Republicans liked the package that President Bush proposed (a package that gave help to the wealthy). Why do we expect people who drove the economy into a deficit by filling their own pockets to be responsible with government money? Put the money in the hands of the people or it would be a waste of time.
